About Us

We are a family raising two wonderful children. Our son JJ was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder when he was 2 years old, and our daughter Zee was diagnosed with ADHD at age 5. Life has been a roller coaster, but at least there is never a dull moment.

When we decided to adopt our first Persian cat, Cotton, we never expected our lives to change so much. The air in our home became less tense, and the yelling I was accustomed to hearing all day was replaced with a considerable amount of laughter.

One major difference that stood out to me was when we went on car rides. Our son JJ would constantly scream, screech, and hit his face the entire duration of the ride. It was heartbreaking to watch and the disruption would always cause a distraction to anyone driving.

However, we noticed something very different during one long road trip; silence.

JJ was not screaming, screeching or hitting his face at all. He was calm, relaxed, and simply petting Cotton and pulling on his ears and tail.

Cotton was not only unbothered, but almost seemed to enjoy it.

Instead of the harsh rides our family had almost become accustomed to, for the first time, we rode along listening to Cotton filling our van with his loud purrs.

I had never experienced anything like it - JJ had never shown any interest in animals before. That’s when I began researching the Power of Purr.

I wanted other children like JJ to feel at ease during transitions in their schedules - and thus, PurrEmotion was born.
